Market Street Square – Live Feed

Welcome to our live stream of Market Street Square in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, a vibrant spot rich in history. This square is home to the historic Wilkes-Barre Train Station, an iconic landmark with a fascinating past.

Originally constructed for the Lehigh and Susquehanna Railroad, the Wilkes-Barre Train Station came under the control of the Central Railroad of New Jersey in 1871. Passenger service ended in 1963, and the station closed its doors completely in 1972. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, preserving its place in history.

Following renovations, the station found new life as a vibrant nightclub, restaurant, and hotel throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s, known as The Station and Market Street Square. It spent around 15 years vacant before its latest transformation. The nightclub, in particular, became a beloved local spot, with many people sharing memories like meeting their future spouses or getting engaged there.

Today, the station serves as the home of the Luzerne County Visitors Bureau, continuing to serve the community while also honoring its historical significance.

In the background, you can also catch a glimpse of what we believe is the new construction project that will bring a Starbucks to downtown Wilkes-Barre, adding to the area’s growth and revitalization.
